Heaven/Hell
Cult Couture entry, 2010
Materials: thumb tacks, roofing paper, chain
This garment received first prize in the category ‘Recycled Revolution’.
This piece is inspired by a German fortune teller called Himmel und holle (heaven and hell). This children’s game made from paper is believed to have four sections - two with a bad outcome (hell), the other two a good outcome (heaven).

To construct this garment I folded roofing paper into giant fortune teller shapes and formed these around the body. The 'good' segments were then sprayed with gold paint and pierced with thumbtacks.
